Review: Valentine’s Lips – Kylie Cosmetic’s ‘Mary Jo K’

Just in time for another red lip suited perfect for Valentines Day is Kylie Cosmetics Lipkit in shade Mary Jo K. I ordered this online and was exceptionally pleased with the smooth transaction! 💸

Every beauty guru I follow has posted them on The Gram and after about the millionth post of Mary Jo K, I knew I had to get my hands on it.

The Hunger Games

The problem is, they are ALWAYS sold out. Kylie only posts the restock times on her app, and since I don’t feel like paying for it, I followed an update account called @KylieLipKitUpdates. The account, just like it sounds, posts restock times and any updates of new Kylie Cosmetics products.

The time was set. I logged onto the website on my laptop. Unfortunately this time, the update account was not my little secret. For this restock, Kylie announced it on her Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat.

The makeup lovers came flocking. It was something out of The Hunger Games.

My plan was to complete the transaction as soon as possible!  I had no idea if I would get it!

I got them all.

While Kylie literally broke google, I somehow managed to snag all of the lip kits I wanted.

If that doesn’t prove I’m a professional shopper, I don’t know what does.

Details from the Kylie Cosmetics website:

  • Mary Jo K is a true blue red
  • The ultra-long wearing lip liner has a creamy texture that glides across the lips for a very easy and comfortable application
  • The Lip Liner sharpens easily in most standard sized sharpeners
  • The Liquid Matte Lipstick has high intensity pigment for an instant bold matte lip
  • The extremely long wearing lipstick contains moisturizing ingredients for a comfortable, emollient and silky feel that does not dry your lips
  • Retails for $30 (£24.03)
  • 1 Matte Liquid Lipstick (0.11 fl oz./oz. liq / 3.25 ml)
  • 1 Pencil Lip Liner (net wt./ poids net .03 oz/ 1.0g)
  • You can visit the site here for further details

The lip kits came in a box marked Kylie Cosmetics (obviously) and a card with a note from Kylie. The lip kit boxes are chic, minimal, and very Kylie. The shade is marked on the top as well as being the featured colour in the logo on the front of the box. I personally love this packaging. I think it is very sleek and professional looking.

The lip liner and matte liquid lipstick match perfectly. The lip liner is heavy and at first I questioned how to sharpen it. I used a NARS brand sharpener that worked fine. The lip liner is made of a rubber texture when shaved. The lip liner is creamy, pigmented, and easy application! 💋

The matte liquid lipstick has a sweet scent – smells like candy! The doe tip applicator works well. The texture of this product is light weight, pigmented, and true to colour. It dries relatively quickly. I would recommend applying this quickly to avoid patchiness! 💄

They’re $29 (£23.60) each. Each includes a lip liner and liquid lipstick. Like most people who have purchased one, I think it’s totally worth it because you get both the liner and the lipstick! I also don’t mind paying a lil extra to know that it’s cruelty free and ethically sourced!

The colour pay-off is amazing and it’s smudge free and long lasting, checks off all my boxes for a good red lipstick! I feel so classic in this lipstick, I’m ready to break some hearts and walk away in a flowy dress into the sunset. Also maybe because Wildest Dreams is on 😂

I love my *red lip, classic, thing that you like* so getting Mary Jo K was a MUST.

If you are interested in buying the lip kits you should watch Kylie Cosmetics on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and make sure you know your card number (VISA etc) and have your address and contact info stored on your computer ready to go once the products are released on the website. They do sell out SO fast so you have to be ON and ready.
